Internet Protocol

Internet Protocolexternal_link is the "IP" in TCP/IP and UDP/IP.

The Internet Protocol suite are the protocols used to communicate across networks (inter-networking), such as on the Internet. Nodes on an IP network are identified by their IP addressexternal_link.

IP packets can be carried in, amongst many other things, Ethernet frames, and can themselves carry TCP and UDP data.
